Attractive flowering deciduous tree with a broad crown, Can grow up to 16 meters tall, typically with a short bole. Edible fruit appreciated locally, gathered from the wild.
Locally cultivated and semi-cultivated in its native area, Pale yellow, globose to ovoid fruit, approximately 5cm in diameter. Normally eaten raw, with a sweet and delicious flavor, Fruit has an aroma of cinnamon and roses. The flesh is soft and crunchy, resembling an apple.
Medicinal Uses:
Leaves and stem bark are used for the treatment of dyspepsia, fever, diarrhea, leprosy, gonorrhea, and burning sensation. Therapeutic uses include anthelmintic, astringent, diuretic, demulcent, purgative, expectorant, tonic, ulcer, and cough.
