Mexico and Ecuador: Ciruela amarilla.

North America: Hog plum or Yellow mombin.
General Information:
Native to moist lowland forests from southern Mexico to Peru and Brazil, and in many West Indies.
Reaches a maximum height of about 10 to 15 m.
Small ovoid drupe (3 to 5 cm long).
Thin yellow skin with a sour-sweet taste.
Culinary Uses:
Ripe fruits eaten fresh or stewed with sugar.
Juice used for ice cream, cool beverages, and jelly.
Some fruits made into jam and preserves.
Nutrient Content:
Rich in carotenoids (pro-vitamin A).
Provides about one-third of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A.
