General Information:
Well-branched shrubby tree, reaching up to 25 ft / 7 m tall. Exciting, wild black sapote species native to Baja California.
Naturally grows along hillsides and may be both frost (to a few degrees below freezing) and drought-tolerant.
Produces dark chocolate brown fruits with mushy, brown-black pulp. Fruits are said to be edible, with a mild to sweet, pudding flavor.
Nutritional Content:
One black sapote fruit provides around 10% of the daily value for iron.
Good source of vitamin C, calcium, and vitamin A.
Contains a moderate amount of potassium.
