Pouteria coelomatica is a precious wild fruit from the Atlantic Forest. Oval fruits measuring 4-5 x 3 cm, with a woody purplish bark, containing a sweet aril around a single seed, with a flavor similar to that of the abiu (Pouteria caimito) and other species of the same genus. Its leaves have short petioles (cabins) and are discolored (of different shades on the top and bottom sides), with an acute base and a rounded and slightly acuminate apex.
