Common Name: Udara Fruit, also known as African Star Apple.

Botanical Name: Chrysophyllum Albidum.

General Information: Udara is a forest fruit tree with almost 80 different species of fruits grown in the tropical region.

The fruit has chewable skin with its colour ranging from green to orange, depending on its ripeness. When fully ripe, it has a sweet taste.

Planting and Care

Should be grown in full sun or partial shade on fertile, well-drained soils, should be mulched beneath the canopy and watered regularly until established, then they can withstand occasional drought.

It has a high Vitamin C content which helps in curing colds and preventing scurvy. It can be used for healing and treatment of wounds such as cuts, sprains etc., especially the leaves, roots and barks as they have healing components.
