General Information: A beautiful evergreen tree native to South America, specifically Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and the Guyanas. Thrives in shady positions, and young trees grow slowly. Delicious sweet fruits are gathered from the wild and grown in home gardens for their edible fruits and ornamental value. Fruits are around 4cm in diameter. The thin-skinned fruit has a thick, succulent pulp with a pleasant, aromatic, sweet flavor.
Edible Uses: The delicious sweet fruits are consumed raw. They can be used to make ice cream and jellies.
