Toronche Live Plant (Vasconcellea stipulata)

Vasconcellea stipulata, known also as toronche,toranchi or jigacho, is a fruit-bearing species in the Vasconcellea genus, Caricaceae family. It is native to Ecuador and Peru. 
  The species is characterized by the stipules or little curved horns on the trunk. The fruits are among the best for eating in the genus vasconcellea with an entirely edible fruit that is juicy and refreshing. Toranchi is believed to be one of the parents of the babbaco hybrid papaya which is a well known and commercialized crop in Ecuador and other parts of the world.
