Theobroma gileri is an evergreen tree growing up to 14 metres tall, native to Northern S. America - Colombia, Ecuador. It is a species of tree in the family mallows. The edible fruits and seeds are commonly gathered from the wild and consumed locally. A chocolate made from the seed is of good quality and the juicy, sweet, flavourful pulp is delicious and refreshing.
