The Ciaculli mandarin, or Mandarino tardivo di Ciaculli ("Late mandarin of Ciaculli"), is a prized, late-season Sicilian citrus fruit known for its exceptional sweetness, intense aroma, thin and easily peelable skin, and high juiciness. Originating from the hamlet of Ciaculli near Palermo, it ripens from late winter to early spring (February-April), when competing citrus fruits are scarce. This distinctive mandarin is a versatile ingredient, ideal for fresh eating, as well as for making jams, sorbets, ice cream, and liqueurs.
