Redan fruit, scientifically known as Nephelium maingayi, is a rare tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia that is frequently referred to as the "hairless rambutan". It belongs to the soapberry family (Sapindaceae), making it a close relative of the common Rambutan, lychee, and pulasan.
The Redan fruit (a regional name for a variety of rambutan, or closely related wild hairless strains of Nephelium lappaceum) has a sweet, refreshing, and mildly acidic flavor. It is highly reminiscent of a lychee or a sweet grape with subtle tropical and floral undertones.
