Description:

Red Rambai is a very delicious fruit from the Phyllanthaceae family.

It is known for its distinctive red color and is a popular variant of Rambai plants.

Often grown in home gardens as an ornamental plant and for its tasty edible fruit.

The fruit is almost round and turns brownish-yellow when ripe without splitting.

Each seed is covered with an edible, sweet-tasting aril that is translucent red in color.

Rambai fruits are good sources of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals.

They have relatively low amounts of fats, organic acids, phenolics, and antioxidants compared to many other familiar fruits.

Planting and Care

Rambai plants enjoy a well drained, general potting mix, the tree requires 80-100% sunlight and young plants should be brought indoors during winters.

Uses/Benefits

The pulp is sweet to acid in taste. The tree is also used for shade and low-quality wood. The ripe fruit is consumed fresh and can be processed into juice, jams, organic vinegar, and wine. Its bark are used to treat stomach and eye diseases, respectively.
