Red-flowered Sea Grape (Coccoloba rugosa) Live Plant

Coccoloba rugosa, also known as Red-flowered Sea Grape or Cardboard Leaf, is a rare, small evergreen tree from the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, St. Thomas) in the buckwheat family (Polygonaceae), notable for its huge, leathery, wrinkled leaves and small red flowers, offering a collectible ornamental plant with distinct tropical appeal.
The Coccoloba rugosa produces small, ovoid, orange-reddish fruits. Like the more well-known Coccoloba uvifera (common Sea Grape), these fruits have a sweet and sour flavor. They can be eaten raw or used to make jams and jellies.
