The Pusa Shrestha Mango is a hybrid mango variety developed in 2012 by the ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. Bred by Dr. Manish Srivastava and his team through a cross between Amrapali and Sensation, this variety is valued for its attractive red-coloured fruits, fibreless golden-orange pulp, excellent sweetness, and pleasant aroma.

Origin and Breeding: Developed by crossing Amrapali × Sensation, Pusa Shrestha combines desirable fruit characteristics, making it an attractive addition to modern mango collections.

Fruit Appearance: Produces medium-sized, elongated mangoes weighing approximately 230–300 grams. The fruits feature a striking vivid-red peel over a yellow background, giving them an appealing appearance when ripe.

Pulp and Flavour: The fruits have deep golden-orange, fibreless pulp with a pleasant aroma and a balanced sweet-tangy flavour. The pulp recovery is approximately 72%, while the Total Soluble Solids (TSS) content reaches around 21° Brix, indicating excellent sweetness.

Nutritional Value: The pulp contains vitamin C, approximately 40.3 mg per 100 g, and beta-carotene, reported at around 10,900 µg per 100 g. These nutrients contribute to a balanced diet.

Weight and Size: Each fruit typically weighs around 230–300 grams, making it a medium-sized mango suitable for fresh consumption.

Shelf Life: Fruits can generally last around 7–8 days at room temperature under suitable conditions. When harvested at approximately 80% maturity, they may keep for 12–14 days, depending on storage and ripening conditions.
