Pusa Prathibha Mango Live Plant (Mangifera indica)

Released by ICAR-IARI in 2012, Pusa Pratibha is a standout hybrid created by crossing the popular Amrapali and Sensation varieties. This semi-vigorous tree is celebrated for its exceptional productivity, boasting the highest bearing capacity among newer hybrids with a production rate of approximately 14 t/ha. Its growth habit allows for efficient land use, accommodating up to 278 trees per hectare when planted at a standard 6m x6m distance. As a regular-bearing variety, it provides a consistent annual harvest, maturing in about 140 days from the initial flowering stage.

Fruit Quality and Market Appeal

The fruit itself is oblong and strikingly beautiful, featuring a bright red peel set against a vibrant golden-yellow background. Each mango typically weighs between 180g and 200g, offering a high pulp content of over 70%. While its flavor profile closely mirrors the sweetness of Amrapali, it presents a milder aroma and a subtle hint of spice, complemented by a slightly higher fiber content than other Pusa siblings. With a solid shelf-life of 7–8 days at room temperature and high levels of Vitamin C and β-carotene.
