The Pusa Arunima Mango is a hybrid mango variety developed and released in 2002 by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. It is admired for its attractive red-blushed fruits, sweet and fibreless pulp, and excellent post-harvest keeping quality.
Parentage: Pusa Arunima was developed by crossing Amrapali as the seed parent with Sensation as the pollen parent, combining desirable fruit quality and attractive appearance.
Fruit Appearance: Produces medium to large mangoes weighing approximately 230–250 grams. The fruits feature a beautiful golden-yellow peel with an attractive red blush, giving them an appealing appearance when ripe.
Pulp and Flavour: The fruits contain thick, bright yellow-orange, fibreless pulp with a deliciously sweet taste and a pleasant balance of sugar and acidity. With a Total Soluble Solids (TSS) content of around 19.5° Brix, the variety is known for its excellent eating quality.
Shelf Life: Pusa Arunima has a good post-harvest shelf life, with fruits generally lasting around 10–12 days at room temperature under suitable conditions. Under appropriate low-temperature storage, they may keep for up to 35 days.
Harvest Season: It is a late-season mango variety that typically ripens around the first week of August in northern India. The actual harvest period may vary depending on the climate and growing region.
