Purple Plum Cherry (Eugenia sp) is a small tree, growing to around 6-8 feet tall with an open, sparse crown.This species was found on the Western Amazon Coast in Brazil. The edible fruit is greatly appreciated within the plants native range, where it is both gathered from the wild and cultivated in home gardens.This specie started fruiting in 4-5 years, and has a nice sweet-acid flavor. The leaves and fruit of this specie are very beautiful, making it a great ornamental piece. The fruit has a single fuzzy seed, surround by an abundance of juicy flesh.
