Species of evergreen shrub native to South America, Grown for its sweet, edible fruit similar to honeydew or rockmelon. Fruit has a juicy melon-like texture, Known as pepino dulce, Pepino, or sweet cucumber.
Fruit contains 35mg of vitamin C per 100g, 7% carbohydrates, and 92% water. Fruit should be harvested just before it is fully ripe and can be stored for several weeks at room temperature.
Fruit is about 10cm long and 6cm wide, The plant prefers well-drained soils in a sunny position for better growth.
