Oncidium, also known as the Dancing Lady Orchid, is a genus of orchids that includes about 340 species. They are native to tropical and subtropical America and are known for their ruffled flowers. Oncidium shelob is know for its spider like flowers with beautiful spots. It can gives multiple spikes in one single bloom.
Light Depending on the species, Oncidiums need bright light to full direct sun, but most do well with one to several hours of sun per day.
Temperature Oncidiums can tolerate temperatures up to 95–100°F (35–38°C), but they need to cool down to 70–80°F (21–27°C) at night. A 10°F drop in temperature at night can help stimulate flowering.
Watering Oncidiums like moisture and need to be watered more often.
Location A windowsill is a good place for Oncidium orchids because the temperature naturally drops at night.
