The name ‘Nam Dok Mia’ translates as ‘Sweet Juice of a Flower’.Therefore, some locals say that the fragrance of this mango variety resembles that of daffodils. It is a medium-sized tree potentially reaching heights of over six meters. The fruit quality is excellent, with a pale green/yellow fibreless flesh and a rich, sweet flavour. Nam Doc Mai is grown commercially in Australia and Colombia.

Ripe fruit is processed into canned and frozen slices, pulp, concentrate, juices, nectar, jam, purée, cereal flakes, toffee, and various dried products.
