Botanical Name: Plinia inflata
General Information:
Species of plant from the Myrtaceae family. Native to the western Amazon in Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil.
Typically grows between 3 and 4 meters tall. Seedlings flower in the 5–10-year range with high variability.
Globose yellow fruits, 5-8 cm in diameter and 7-10 cm long. Fruits have a rostrate point at the connection with the peduncle.
Succulent, sweet pulp with good flavor. Fruits are commonly eaten out of hand and used to make jam or jelly.
