These trees require a moist and warm climate. Needs very little Care. It is a slow-growing tree and grows best in loose, unconsolidated soils. It is adapted to survive flooding at a minimal level, but can sometimes last in deeper floods.

Special Feature

Because it contains phytonutrient polyphenols, something typical and exclusive to this fruit, it helps treat respiratory difficulties, such as asthma.

Fruit can be eaten raw. The seeds are used in soups, or fried as a snack. The seeds are consumed roasted, boiled, in pastry, and to prepare a poor quality chocolate. The beans are sometimes used to adulterate true cacao produce.
