General Information: A slender, fast-growing evergreen tree with a graceful narrow crown. Native to the vibrant landscapes of South America, spanning Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, reaching as far as Panama and Mexico.

Healthy and Culinary Uses:

The fruit is a delectable treat, offering a sweet, pleasant, and subacid flavor. Perfect for raw consumption or as a delightful addition to desserts and refreshing beverages.

Seeds are a culinary gem, used as almonds or processed into cocoa powder. Rich in protein (approx. 15%), carbohydrates (approx. 15%), and valuable oil (approx. 50%).

A substantial source of cacao butter, with stimulant alkaloids like caffeine and theobromine. High-calorie content, abundant protein, fiber, Omega 9, and a caffeine boost.

Planting and Care

These trees require a moist and warm climate. Needs very little Care. It is a slow-growing tree and grows best in loose, unconsolidated soils. It is adapted to survive flooding at a minimal level, but can sometimes last in deeper floods.

Special Feature

Because it contains phytonutrient polyphenols, something typical and exclusive to this fruit, it helps treat respiratory difficulties, such as asthma.

Uses/Benefits

Fruit can be eaten raw. The seeds are used in soups, or fried as a snack. The seeds are consumed roasted, boiled, in pastry, and to prepare a poor quality chocolate. The beans are sometimes used to adulterate true cacao produce.
