Pouteria salicifolia, also known as Mataojo, is a tropical fruit tree known for its unique, oblong, pointed fruits with a long beak. Native to more temperate parts of South America, including southern Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina. It is a tree dominant in flood prone areas, with the trunk typically branched from the base like a giant bush The fruits of Pouteria salicifolia are very unique, oblong and prominently pointed. The fruits ripen to lime green, with edible, sweet, white colored flesh. The tree is also notable for its long, thin and ornamental leaves. A short to medium sized tree of 4-8 m.
