Malwana Rambutan is a Sri Lankan native rambutan variety. The red globose fruits are very sweet and juicy. it has an average weight of 20 to 35grams and have a shelf life of minimum 3 days.

Rambutan fruit is related to the lychee, mamoncillo, and longan. It is mainly in those areas that it is consumed. It is still a rare event to see and eat in the country.  The peel is covered with lumps, actually modified spines, with the appearance of curved and reddish hair. It is small, oval, and delightful, with a certain resemblance to a grape pulp.

Planting and Care

The Rambutan is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia, which grows mainly in hot climates and offers an exotic fruit of the same name.

Special Feature

it contains gallic acid, a natural phenolic with antiviral, fungicidal, and antioxidant properties, thus preventing premature ageing.

Uses/Benefits

It produces red and white blood cells because of copper and manganese. And useful in anti ageing. In healthy adults, two rambutan fruits will suffice to meet their daily vitamin C requirements. Rambutan is high in dietary fibres, which help to maintain normal bowel movement after a heavy meal. The calcium in rambutan fruit is absorbed by the body's bones, assisting in the maintenance of adequate bone density for day-to-day functioning and unrestricted movement.
