The LD5 (or LD 05) dragon fruit is a popular purple-fleshed hybrid variety created by crossbreeding American Beauty and Vietnam Giant. It features a shiny, bright red outer skin with green scales, yields large egg-shaped fruits averaging around 350 grams, and is known for strong, near year-round flowering and natural self-pollination.

Taste and Flavor Profile

Sweetness: It is quite sweet, measuring around 19 Brix (a scale used to measure sugar content), which makes it noticeably sweeter and richer than standard white-fleshed varieties. 
Flavor Notes: Growers and tasters describe the flavor as an excellent, complex blend with hints of kiwi and berry, or a sweet, sugarcane-like flavor. 
Texture: The dark purple pulp is dense and juicy, packed with tiny, edible black seeds that provide a mild crunch similar to a kiwi
