Langgir or Xanthophyllum amoenum is a rare species and an exotic fruit of Borneo. It belongs to the family Polygalaceae. Xanthophyllum amoenum is a medium to big tree growing up to 35 metres tall. The plant is harvested from the wild as a local source of food. The fruit is edible, sweet taste cream-like pulp also the fruit skin is used in soap making and shampoo due to its saponin content.
