Eugenia uruguayensis is a tree or shrub 3 to 5 m tall, belonging to the Myrtaceae family. It is native to southern Brazil ; northern Argentina , and Uruguay. The edible fruit is gathered from the wild for local use of food. The fruits are small. elongated, berry-like, and ripen to red/purple, with a sweet, tasty flavor. It starts to bear fruits in 3 to 4 years of age from seed. Fruits grow on a short tree, with bushy growth to 12-18 ft / 3-6 m.
