Rare small, shrubby tree native to the Atlantic forests of Brazil. Grows to a height of 6-15 ft.
Edible fruits are gathered from the wild for local use as food. Bears small, red-skinned fruits with edible pulp and a large seed.
The flavor is likened to a Perfume Guava, with unique overtones. Seed-grown plant takes 2 to 3 years to set fruit.
