Guamirim is an evergreen tree with a small, roundish, dense crown; it can grow 5 - 10 metres tall. The edible fruit is gathered from the wild for local use of food. This Eugenia specie is also called Pitanga Preta., it is a very beautiful and prolific Eugenia which produces sweet fruits without any acidic or astringent taste.
