Very rare and best-tasting Garcinia native to Ecuador. Evergreen tree with stiff, leathery leaves, growing 8 - 12 meters tall.
Sometimes gathered from the wild and cultivated in home gardens for the fruit. Fruits can be eaten raw or made into jam.
Rounded-conical fruit, pointed at one or both ends, about 10 to 14 cm wide. Thick yellow rind, usually smooth, sometimes rough, containing a gummy yellow latex.
The white, aril-like pulp has a flavor similar to Achacha but is considered superior in taste.
