Endemic to the Atlantic Forest ecoregion in southeastern Brazil.

Found in the states of Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo.

Known as "cambuci" in Brazil.

Eaten raw or used in jellies, sherbets, and juices.

Succulent pulp with a pleasantly acidic, slightly sweet, astringent flavor.

Dark green, even when fully ripe.

Approximately 7cm in diameter.

Flying saucer-shaped.

Often cultivated for its edible fruit in domestic orchards within its native range.

Good for both tropical and subtropical zones.

Strong sweet-sour flavor.
