General Information: 

Native and common throughout the Amazon. Grows as a small shrub or bushy tree Naturally cultivated in the jungles of northern Brazil (Para, Amazonas, and Amapa), Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru

The Cupuacu fruit is extremely similar to the cacao fruit. Ovular-shaped fruit with a chocolate flavor. Brown peel surrounds a white, delicious pulp. High oleic acid concentration gives it a soft feel and a melting point comparable to butter

Nutritional Content:

Cupuacu is full of nutrients and antioxidants that benefit health. It is a fantastic source of fiber, promoting fullness, supporting intestinal health, and helping control blood sugar.

Planting and Care

The cupuacu needs a humid tropical climate, and grows best in fertile, well drained soils. Although the trees perform best with light shade, they will also grow well in full sun provided adequate soil moisture is there.

Special Feature

The seeds also contain 15 % carbohydrates and 20 % protein. Cupuacu butter has a high capacity for water absorption and is therefore an excellent emollient for cosmetic formulations. Prevents drying of skin and development of wrinkles, reduces degeneration of skin cells, restores skin flexibility, offers skin softness and improves the moisture and elasticity of the skin.
