Cheiloclinium anomalum is a prolific climbing vine, or liana, belonging to the Celastraceae (bittersweet) family. Although it remains relatively obscure among tropical flora, it is highly valued for its small, spheroid fruits that offer a delightful, succulent eating experience. These edible fruits are characterized by a very sweet flavor profile entirely free of acidity, containing a juicy, pulp-filled interior with seeds. Often compared to its relative Salacia crassifolia, the fruit provides an enjoyable taste consistent with other high-quality tropical species in its genus.
