General Information:

Medium-sized, rather sparsely branched tree, reaching up to 20 m tall. Conic spines on trunk and branches.

Native to rainforests in the western and southern regions of the Amazon (from Colombia to Bolivia) at low and moderate elevations.

Female trees produce oblong, angled, yellowish-orange, papaya-like, edible fruit.
