Ceylon Olive Plant / Elaeocarpus Serratus is a tropical flowering plant in the family Elaeocarpaceae,native to E. Asia - India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia. It is an evergreen tree growing up to 18 metres tall.The tree is harvested from the wild, and sometimes also cultivated, for its edible fruit and medicinal applications. Fruits can be eaten raw or cooked. It is Fleshy and has a pleasantly subacid flavour.They can be used in curries and also pickled like olives The fruit has nutritive and medicinal values and it is a beneficial herbal plant used to cure various diseases.
