Barringtonia papuana (Kun-job tree) is a small, 10-meter tropical tree native to Papua New Guinea, renowned for its massive, glossy, lanceolate leaves that can exceed 1 meter in length. It features fragrant, night-blooming white/pink flowers, turquoise-blue fruits, and thrives in wet, swampy coastal regions. Barringtonia papuana produces distinctive ovoid, woody fruits that turn from green to a bluish-black or reddish-brown color when mature. Measuring roughly long and wide, these hard, water-resistant fruits contain a single seed. Designed for dispersal by water (hydrochory), they are not edible.
