Native to South America (Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Surinam)
One of the most well-liked fruits in the Amazonian region
Ripe fruit is golden, spherical or ovoid-shaped, with a thick skin
White flesh with a pleasant aroma and a sweet, subacid taste
Fruit can be eaten raw or cooked into desserts
