General Information:
An evergreen wild fruit tree species belonging to the Rosaceae family. Subtropical fruit, fairly closely related to quince and pear.
Bears edible fruits that resemble small apples. Commercially grown on a small scale in parts of India, Vietnam, and neighboring countries.
Fruits are often eaten when half ripe and used in the production of juices, wines, syrups, etc.
Small tree, reaching up to 13 ft / 4 m. Naturally grows at mid-elevation regions around 2000 m in the Himalayan mountains.
Traditional Uses and Biological Activities:
Used in traditional remedies for the treatment of infectious diseases, digestive disorders, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.
Possesses biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.
