Every mango season brings a rush of golden delights, but few varieties carry a story as heartfelt and flavors as refined as the Anwar Ratol. Known for its unmatched sweetness, compact size, and fiberless flesh, this mango is often hailed as the ‘mini powerhouse’ of taste and tradition.
Originating from northern India and now widely revered in Pakistan and the Gulf nations, this variety has journeyed through time and borders to earn its place as one of the most cherished mangoes among connoisseurs. At Veliyath Gardens, we are honored to present the Anwar Ratol mango plant—bringing you a slice of heritage wrapped in honeyed flavor.
The history of Anwar Ratol begins in Rataul, a small village in Uttar Pradesh. Around 1905, Sheikh Mohd Afaq Faridi discovered a naturally growing mango sapling with unique sweetness. Through grafting and cultivation, he nurtured this variety and later named it Anwar Rataul in honor of a family member.
By 1928, his nursery "Shohra-e-Afaq" had become a symbol of his dedication. After partition, saplings were carried to Pakistan’s Multan region, where the mango flourished further and became a national pride. Today, this variety is known both as Anwar Ratol and Rataul Mango, depending on the region.
