Annona leptopetala live plant
Annona leptopetala is an evergreen shrub or small tree with a light, irregular crown, native to S. America - northeastern Brazil. it can grow 3 - 8 metres tall. The short, crooked bole can be 15 - 25cm in diameter. The edible fruit is sometimes gathered from the wild for local consumption. The tree is occasionally cultivated for its edible fruit. Very rare and pretty unique Annona species. The only known Annona with separated carpels. Rollinia like Red Flowers. Fruit Carpels are single seeded and the pulp is sweet and has a unique flavour. Fruits taste sweet with no acidity and astringency at all.
